TSH Levels

I have an increased TSH level, what does this mean? They want to put me on medication. Is this hypo. or hyper.  Will the medication make you gain weight?

What was the actual result for TSH?  I assume it was over the current range of .3- 3.0 and that is why they prescribed meds.  They should also check free T3 and use that, along with your hypo t symptoms, to determine your dosage.

Hi, an increased TSH means you are hypothyroid. This means your thyroid is underactive and one of the many symptoms of this condition is that it can cause you to gain weight as it slows down your metabolism. When you start medication it hopefully might help prevent you from gaining more weight as opposed to actually making you put on weight.
