TSH

I AM A 46 YEAR OLD HISPANIC FEMALE I HAD A TSH THEY CAME BACK 31 I GET A PERIOD OFF AND ON EVERY 4 OR 5 MO. I HAVE ZERO ENERGY VERY CRANKY ALL OTHER THYROID TEST CAME BACK NORMAL WHAT DO YOU THINK

YOU BET THE ONLY REASON I GOT TESTED IS THAT I REQUESTED THE TEST FROM GEN DR. BUT I PLAN TO GET RE TESTED AND SEE ANOTHER DR. THANKS

I'm sorry. I shouldn't make light of it. I know my wife would have preferred to miss out on her menopause.

Maybe the menopause and the thyroid are related? You women are complicated. Maybe you're going through menopause now?

It's just really odd that your TSH would be 31.0 and your Free T4 and Free T3 would be midrange. They should be low.

I'd want a re-test with a few others thrown in. Antibody tests.

THANKS FOR THE RESP. I WAS SO FREAKED THAT LOST THE RESULTS BUT THEY WERE MID LINE NORM THE TEST SHOWED THAT I WAS POST MENOPAUSAL? WHEN DID I GO THROUGH MENOPAUSE? thats why I am freaked

Your TSH came back 31.0 and not 3.1, correct?

If so, I think you are hypothyroid and should be put on Synthroid or a similar drug regardless of what the other tests showed.

Your T4 test probably is low but still within "normal" limits.
Did you have antibody tests run?

Do you have a copy of the test results so that you could post test results and also the lab limits used for each test?
