Thanks I am not going to chance it.
I was taking herbal tea and it was making me jittery. I told my naturopath and he took out one of the ingredients. The new tea I have is much nicer and doesn't give me the jitters. He told me that many herbs can interact with thyroid medication.
As with anti-depressants, valerian, hypericum, can effect the medication. So you realy do need to check what's in it. Remember that the bark of a particular tree is known as aspirin! That may be herbal in the true sense but the medical profession know it's chemical structure.
Yes Utah is right -
You had not mentioned that in your original post that you were having surgery -
check that out first with the doctors.
Check with your surgeon first. Some herbs are blood thinners. I know that I have to submit a complete list of all supplements, herbs, etc. to my surgeon's office before a procedure.
Better to be safe. :-)
Thanks. A friend of mine sells herbal life and they have a tea in there that is so yummy. I was just concerned bc it is all natural herbs and I didn't want it to screw me up. I am going in for surgery in a few weeks for the rest of my thyroid to be removed due to papillary cancer.I had half taken out in may and I have to go in for the rest.
Absolutely
Chai - green - black kohash- peppermint and any mint tea is great.
You should be able to do so. Although, it is probably best not to take it at the same time of day that you take your synthroid as it is advised that you drink a glass of water with the tablets. Any other time of day will be fine! (Besides, even if it did, all that would happen is that you would need to take a higher dosage of synthroid.) Hope this helped.
