Test results meanings

I have been dealing with fatigue, weight loss, sore muscles, itching, and a host of other issues for the last 18 months. Have had all types of blood test and came back normal from my primary care doctor, and no remedy for feeling bad. So I went the holistic way and the doctor told me it was a thyroid condition. Well, I went on a regiment of vitamins and shots and then was introduced to Armour. Begin to feel better. In July of this year, I had a physical and my blood work show my T4 levels were 1.24 in June to 1.33 in November. My TSH level  in June was .043 and in November the level is <.005. Is my dosage too high ? Am I digging my own grave with this low level? I feel better most of the days. Can someone explain this thing about the readings of my thyroid, please.

We need to know the reference ranges for the T4; ranges vary lab to lab and must come from your own report.  Also please verify, whether or not that is FREE T4 or Total T4.  It appears to be free, but if your lab report doesn't specify, then it's total, which is considered obsolete and of little value.

Has your Free T3 been tested? Free T3 is the hormone that's actually used by the individual cells, while Free T4 is a "storage hormone" which must be converted to FT3.  I'd have to say that your doctor is somewhat irresponsible if he's prescribing a medication with T3, but not monitoring your FT3 levels.

TSH is a pituitary hormone and neither causes nor alleviates symptoms.  It's often suppressed when a person is on thyroid replacement medication, particularly, one with a T3 component, such as Armour.

When it's all said and done, symptoms (or lack of) are most important.  Was the weight loss, before or after the addition of the Armour?

What were your levels prior to being put on the Armour?
