hair loss

I have read that hair loss can be a side effect of Levoxyl.  I am currently on 100mcg (for just over 2 weeks now) and each time I've washed my hair I've had GOBS of hair come out.  Will this go away?  Anyone experience this early on with a thyroid replacement meds and have it NOT go away?

Please advise... I don't want to be bald!  If I were a man I wouldn't mind, but I'm a girl! ;)

Boy, I can tell you all that having this thyroid hoshimotos is a pain in the behind! I'm so upset because I started on synthroid 2 mo ago and my hair is still falling out and coming down like rain drops.i take every vitamin known to man and all I see is shiney hair that don't stay in my head. My hair loss was not that bad before takin synthroid.....so I'm thinking get off that med!

Thank you for sharing.  I called my endo yesterday and he said that it was probably due to the stress of the surgery/anesthesia and not the Levoxyl.  I'm hoping he's right... or that it's the Levoxyl and I'll have the same experience as you in seeing improvement in just a few weeks.

Thanks again for putting my mind at ease.  :)

Man oh man I suffered with the hairloss.  I even went to a dermotologist to get it checked out.  My ENDO told me that he was not convinced that it was related to my Hashi's since my levels weren't that bad, but the derm guy said it was completely related.  When I started levothyroxine (generic synthroid), I lost even more and thought for sure I was going to be bald at 31.  I can tell you, it eventually does improve after the first month.  In fact, most of my hair is growing back in, but it can take as long as 6 months to notice any improvement due to the hair growth cycle.  I noticed improvement in about 2 months.  There is hope, hang in there.
