Thyroid Blood Test and Uptake interperation, please help

Hi Dear Friends,

Recently I did a blood test for my thyroid and also uptake test. in my blood test my T4 and T3 was about 10% more than normal range and my free T4 is high as well. also my TSH was too low. it is about less than 0.01.

afterward I did uptake exam. scan of my thyroid. in the result of uptake, Dr said it is probabely thyroidits or hypo. because picture shows your thyroid's activity is less than normal !

It makes me confuse, my blood test indicates my thyroid is hyper but my uptake exam shows my thyroid is hypo or I have thyroiditis. is it normal? can these results be different? although my blood test shows  I have hypo why uptake shows I have thyroiditis or hypo?

please help me. I am concern

i recently had an ultrasound performed due to low T3 blood results
the ultrasound came back with 4 nodules - upper and lower left/right lobes
bilateral vasucular multinodular -
my uptake results were 41.1% and also a cold nodule discovered.
I am currently being scheduled for a biopsy.

for the past few months i have not felt myself, lethargic, irritable(more than usual) and just plain horrible.

I have been on several diffferent meds for depression/anxiety, but now I am wondering if it was my thyroid from the begining and never diagnosed?

i am somewhat concerned about the biopsy, but am confident in my new DR. and am just going to pray on it :)

Graves can be so soul destroying when Hyper.
I quite understand you wanting the thyroid out.
I had RAI because of Graves and hyperT then 3 days before RAI Cancer was picked up. So 3 months after RAI I had a TT.
I have never regretted it.

Good Luck and yell out if you need any questions answered.

Same thing here - my blood work came back hyperthyroid, my ultrasound showed 2 goiters and my Endo says I have Graves.  I go to have my uptake after seeing Endo and it comes back.3 so she is thinking thyroid storm and I am ok at the time.  I just said heck with it and have an appt Monday with surgeon to get rid of this monster.  Heck its doing me no good and causing such poor quality of life for me that I want it gone.  I am on BP medicine for the rest of my life thanks to good genes so I will just add thyroid meds now to my daily intake.

Hi. This is so weird as the exact same thing happened to me. MY TSH came in a 0 a few months ago. I too had a uptake scan which showed no goiter, nodules, tumors, etc. but did show low extremely low uptake.  So, the results were conflicting just like yours.

I was told to wait another month and come in for more blood work. It was NOT fun because as you know when your thyroid is THAT hyper you just don't feel well. Well, my blood work came back today and now my TSH is at a 39!!

From what my doctor told me, there are quite a few reasons for temporary hyperthyroidism. If your scan came back normal as far as the structure of the thyroid itself then I wouldn't worry too much about cancer. If you had thyroid cancer some type of nodule would have been found.

It is not uncommon for people with Hashimoto's disease to suffer thyroiditis causes a temporary hyper state which eventually settles on a hypo state.

I am still learning about this so sorry I can't tell you more. I have an appointment on MOnday so if I learn anything new that might be of help I will let you know. :)

Good luck and hang in there!

I do not use any thyroid replacement hormone, also I did TGab, it was so high. it was 6 time greater than normal.

I have just did uptake scan.
What is your idea? can thyroidits makes my hormone high, although they should be hypo?

Do you think I am suspect to Cancer?

Thank you

Are you taking thyroid replacement hormones?
Did you have an ultrasound of the thyroid?

It's possible that you have thyroiditis which will drive your hormones hyper for a week or two, and then the thyroid reverts to hypothyroidism.

You should have had an ultrasound before you had the uptake scan.

Have you had several antibody tests run?
