it don't hurt to swallow...swallowing sometimes is just difficult
swelling, yes that hurts
i don't mean to be a bug, but now my left side is hurting again...they said that my intestines and colon in that area could be affected by my thyroid, but this is something new it hurts from my left lower back all the way around to the front...i have been drinking water to see if maybe it's my kidney, but i dunno. i researched that it could be related, but so can everything else seeing as how the thyroid is in control of it all
im in so much pain that i want to literally hit someone right now
i do have a doctor's appointment finally this coming wed...the clinic's doctor made it with the surgery/oncology unit...do you think they know something that i don't?
The FNA is the needle biopsy to obtain sample tissue from the nodule; if swelling and pain is present AFTER the ultrasound it should be repeated. The pain and swelling can be caused by inflammatory process which can be reduced with Ibuprofen, but if it caused by the bleeding inside thyroid (which sometimes happening after the "too strong "palpation or ultrasound procedure) the aspirin containing drugs can make the matters worse. The old fashion way to see how the swelling reacts to the cold and warm applications: inflammatory pain goes down with warm patch , while the pain from internal bleeding tends to go down after the cold application. However this cannot diagnose all other causes such as cervical neck problems etc. Visually observing the swelling, its location and how it moves during swallowing can give more clues.
Is that swelling moves or hurts during swallowing?
what is an FNA?
And the left side of my neck has been swollen much more than what it was at the time. I didn't even know it was swollen before the doctor sent me...I thought it was just fat to be honest.
But now that side of my neck is swollen alot, and more uncomfortable than painful to touch, but it will send sharp achy pains up to my ear on that side. I can't stand wearing necklaces or something with a fold over collar on it.
The nodule of this size may need to undergo FNA, however it is unlikely to cause neck pain.
All that was tested for was TSH3 and it was 1.763. They said normal was in between 0.4 and 5.5.
The US said The thyroid parenchyma is homogenous. Note is made of a mildly hypoechoic nodule within the medial, right mid thyroid, measuring .96 cm.
The vascularity is normal.
This was done 11/24/10
Post those labs if you can and did they do a Hashi TPOab and TgAb test with those labs?
Post the actual report of the US scan too. You could have thyroiditis or goiter on half happening with the nodule.
I think more details could steer us in telling you what comes next and what you may be able to do.
