6 mos post TT and i lost lbs.....

After the controversy of not being able to lose weight when hypo, i figured i'd find out how true that is. When i gained some energy back after having the TT (2mos ago), i decided to go back to the gym and work out until i lose weight and feel better about myself. I also changed my diet because that's a must when trying to stay healthy.

I am still having lots of issues (medically) due to having no thyroid and it's only been 6mos, but regardless of it all, i chose to stay active.  Before even considering the surgery, i joined "curves" and lost 35lbs from feb of 08 til my surgery in dec. I was very skeptical of having the surgery due to the talks about what it will do to my body and especially gaining the weight back that i lost. Of course i gained about 10lbs inbetween the surgery and the time that i went back to a different gym.  I get up every morning and work out at least an hr on arms, legs, stomach and cardio and i must say that i see a huge difference.

I say all of this to say: anything is possible if you just do it!...Grant it, i don't have the energy like i use to but i push myself to get through it and i do.  There is hope for us.

Great for you, determination is key!

You're right.....it doesn't matter when you do it, it matter's that you do it....I can go in the morning because my schedule is free for now...but going in the evening or night is great as well!

I have to agree. In winter time here in Australia, I tend to put on a few kilos. It's coz I am not doing my daily walks or weights. Simple. Hypo does tend to make people eat more, and many fail to keep a food diary. As I always say, a calorie eaten has no idea that it can't be a calorie burned. It just takes more effort to lose that calorie when hypo. I know I struggled BIG time to lose the 40 kilos (over 88 lbs) in the time I did. But it can be done. Will power is one of the best medicines along with the thyroxine!
Good on you for getting up and doing your gym work. Personally I like to stay in bed! I prefer to go out in the afternoon, so it shows, what works for one is not going to work for another. If someone reading your post thinks, Oh gawd, I have to get up early to lose weight? Then it might put them off. I say to them, NO! You can go to the gym, go for a walk, lift cans of pinto beans, ANYTIME that suits YOU. The thing is to TRY!

Cheers!
