Thyroid Storm

Has any of you ever had a thyroid storm?  If so, what was it like.  I think I have had two, the first time, the er told me I was having a panic attach and sent me home, and I told them it was not, I had panic attacks before, but never like this.  I    happened again two days ago, but not nearly as severe.  I stayed calm, even though it was hard to breathe.  Last time and this time, I was out of it for a few days after.  It started with a hard hard heart pounding, then a heaviness in my ches, very hard to take a breatht.  Then my hands and feet started tingling intensely, them ,my lips, it would travel up my arms and legs.  I would get lathargic, and it was hard to think straight, and it was hard to for my mouth to form words to speak.  My eyes,,,,,,,,,,my eyes felt peeled back, and it was like I was in a weird zone.  My mom told me that it may be a thyroid storm.  That day I did see a doctor, she was pressing on my thyroid, while she had me try to swallow water.  I am not sure what I am anymore, Hypo or not.  I do know that I have several goiters from an ultrasound last week.  I just want to know if anyone else has had this experience.

I had an ultrasound done last week, it said that I had inhomogeneous attenuation pattern with multiple small nodules, cystic and non-cystic.(I don't exactly know what this means)  I feel old, my body hurts.  And there is no one in my life that understands.  I am 32, and every thing I do feels like a big challenge. I just want to crawl into bed and stay there. I am seeing my dr tomorrow, in hope that he will help me somehow.

Hi there. I was 21 yrs old when I had my Thyroid storm. It happened about a few weeks after i gave birth to my oldest son. I dropped down to 98lbs and i had all the symptoms you are describing. I also had horrible pressure behind my left eye and it look enlarged compaired to my right eye. My anxiety was so bad that i thought i was having a nervous breakdown or postpartum problems. I was told i had graves disease and also hashimotos later. Since then i am now 48 and in 2006 after developing a large goiter had a total thyroidectomy leaving me hypo. I am still struggling with this disease and trying to get to a symptom free dosage. Good luck to you and please go see an Endo doc. When you are hyper like that it can affect your heart. Not trying to scare you or anything just be safe. God Bless..
