Thyroid disorders

I'm not even sure what questions to start with... What causes hypothyroidism, why does the medication given to HELP regulate make me tired, no matter what I do, I can't lose the weight gained after diagnosis and treatment...hair loss, brittle nails, insomnia, listlessness, depressed and the list goes on

Please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.  Test results and associated reference ranges vary from lab to lab so it is important to always compare results to ranges.

What is your daily dosage of Levo?  Many hypo patients find that they continue to have hypo symptoms after starting on thyroid meds.  The reason being that either the dosage is inadequate, or that their body does  not adequately convert the T4 med to T3.  Since Free T3 correlates best with hypo symptoms, and Free T4 and TSH do not correlate at all, it is important for Free T3 to be high enough in the range to relieve hypo symptoms.

If you will post the test results and ranges, members will be better able to assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.

There are many causes of hypothyroidism. A common cause is an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's thyroiditis.  How long have you been on medication?
