At What level of TSH will I REALLY feel normal?

Its been over a year now that i was diagnosed with hypothyroid and the level was over 300. I was told then that I would be back to normal in a couple of months..HA HA..The good news is my last reading was at 15 and I DO feel so much better..In fact, I dont know when I felt so good. I have always been struggling with weight and fatique, although I'm a VERY active person. Ive always had to push myself. My question is WHEN will I really know what feeling normal is??

Up til now and over the last few months, I have had every medical test you can think of for kidney and heart ekg stress tests, ct scans, ca125, ultrasounds, labs. and a continued  increase of 25 mg of levothyroxen every six weeks. Im now at 225 mg of medication and expect to be increased again.  I an now getting labs done for a complex cystic mass on my right ovaryand was wondering if it could be connected to the thyroid problem as well Andddd....I have been on very strong medication for Malignant Hypertension which was the reason for blood tests that found my hypothyroid, but this last visit to the DR. gave me a bp of 108/68. And the last two times i went to the Dr. it has been hard to hear my bp. Do you guys think that maybe we need to watch the Medication for my hypertension? Now that my thyroid is getting closer to normal, I believe my heart is too. Im worried that the medication for my hypertension needs to be decreased.

your last tsh reading was 15? thats not normal. it should atleast be under 5. unless your doc is just slowly getting your tsh to normal for heart reasons. the longer you went with hypothyroidism before going to the doc the longer it wil take to be 100%. also my bp goes up if my thyroid is low.

Your BP is very good, as well as your PP is very good, right where the doctors would want it and they are going by PP now days saying its more important, to a degree.

Any health issues and medication can have an effect on thyroid levels, however, I don't  know to what degree, that is, if they cause the levels to go out of Labs reference range which is the important issue with levels. When they move back and forth within Labs reference range should not be an issue, for a lot of things in the norm can cause levels to fluctuate.

No one can answer as to where your TSH should be for you to feel better.  This is an individual issue, for one shoe does not fit all, likewise levels.  Where I feel my best, the next person may not and where that person feels best, you may not.  Any where with in Labs reference range that you feel your best at, is the TSH level for you personally, no one else.

Going slow with the med. dose is very good plan strategy in which will keep you from over shooting you levels and then having to go back down with dose again  which will cause a ping pong effect and taking longer to achieve your goal.  Looks like your thyroid is just about to
non-functioning point.

Ask doctor about your hypertension medication, s/he is the only one who can answer your question.

Just my personal opinion and/or experience. Always discuss your health issue with your doctor , always adhere to your doctors advise and, you always have the right to a second opinion. Nothing is a 100% or a 100%, 100% of the time. However, we are not all alike!

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction with continuous healing - Good Luck!

I love you guys...thanks so much for taking time to answer my questions. The Dr. is taking it slow because of the hypertension. This is the lowest my bp has been in my adulthood. I think I have lived so long with hypothyroid, that I dont know what it will feel like to NOT be hypothyroid. Im excited to feel better. Thank God!!!! Now just to take care of the the complex mass that I have and I will be flying...Do you guys know if there is a link between the mass and the thyroid problem.

not sure about the mass but know that the thyroid effects just about every organ in your body and would eventually die with out it. and u might not need bp pills. the thyroid can cause bp problems and once u been on the right dose for awhile would ask about going off the bp meds.
