thanks very much for ur kind time and guidance. I do not have Hashimoto/Graves Disease to best of my knowledge. I have normal Thyroid profile readings . I am not on thyroid replacement medication.
No issues or difficulties . Only anxiety is that as the current FNAC diagnosis is in determinant and is said to be most likely benign as per FNAC and US reports .
Surgeons recommend Surgery on account of flg risk factors.
1. Male 2. age 61 years 3. Nuclear scan is cold nodule 4. Single solid nodule 5. one report of fnac is indeterminate and another is likely to be benign.
I have gone for wait and watch policy for next 6 months .
I do not have any symptoms except some pressure in neck on the side where nodule is there when I try to touch my chest with my chin.
Please guide if some other approach should be adopted
Many of us have nodules on our thyroid and most of them need no treatment, unless they cause some sort of issue or are cancerous, which is quite rare.
Nodules are quite common with autoimmune thyroid disease, such as Hashimoto's and/or Graves Disease. Do you know if you have either of these?
Hashimoto's is most often associate with hypothyroidism (low thyroid levels), but can be characterized by periods of hyperthyroidism, as well. Graves Disease is associated with hyperthyroidism. Thyroid antibody tests are necessary to determine autoimmune thyroid disease. For Hashimoto's, you need Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab); and for Graves, you need Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI).
Are you currently on a thyroid replacement medication? If so, which one, at what dosage and for how long have you been on it?
What, if any, symptoms do you have?
