Thyroid nodules

Hello,
I'm positive for thyroid antibodies (Hashimoto's)
My TSH, free thyroxine, free T3 are within normal range

My recent US details are
right lobe 51x17x15 mm, left lobe 51.8x15.7x15.2 mm, isthmus 4 mm
Both lobes show hypoechoic nodules (10 overall - 4 in right lobe and 6 in left lobe).
The smallest is 2.3x1.6 mm and the biggest nodule is 6,5x3,9 mm.

I'm really concerned because all these nodules are hypoechoic. Can it be indicative of cancer? I have a history of thyroid cancer in my family. Is this US result usual for Hashimoto's thyreoiditis? Are these hypoechoic nodules indicative of inflamation?
Thank you

What are your actual thyroid hormone levels, even if they are in the normal ranges?  Hashimoto's is progressive, in that it continues to destroy thyroid tissue, as time goes on.

Is there any mention of any of the nodules having any calcification?  That's the one characteristic most likely to indicate malignancy.  If there's no calcification, the nodules may be biopsied when they reach adequate size, just to be sure.  Thyroid nodules are very common with Hashimoto's and less than 5% are cancerous.

Is there a section on your report that says "conclusion" or "recommendation" or something like that?  It's usually at the very end of the report... that will tell you what the radiologist thinks and whether there should be follow up or not.
