Thyroid & ovarian cysts & IVF & menopause

I'm a 43 year old female nurse who finished 4 unsuccessful cycles of IVF over a year ago. Previous and during the IVF treatment I was in good health and had normal thyroid blood results and normal  ovarian ultra sounds. Before I started the IVF treatment I had a laparoscopy which showed nothing abnormal in my uterus and ovaries. A small amount of endometrosis was taken from the Pouch of Douglas area of my abdomen.  My FSH levels at this time were indicating  that  I was early menopausal. Since the end of the IVF my menstrual cycle was returning to a regular cycle. Unfortunately 6 months ago I started to become unwell. No energy/ motivation/ dry skin/ free floating anxiety... I developed relatively sever pain in the joint of my big toe, I thought perhaps this was Gout but my blood uric levels were and are normal, around the same time I stopped menstruating and suffered pain in both ovaries, also my thyroid glad rather rapidly developed a node on it. On investigation I had very raised TSH levels, plus antibodies. Hashimoto's Thyroiditis may be the diagnosis and I have been taking Synthyroid since then. A recent ultra sound has shown yip a node/swelling/ enlarged area on the right side of my thyroid.  However I now have a large cyst on one ovary and another smaller cyst on the other ovary. I have never suffered from ovarian cysts previously. Over the last 3 months I have embarked on a healthy detox diet, no meat/ dairy/ wheat/ alcohol/ caffeen and eat only vegitables/ nuts/ pulses/ brown rice and occasionaly fish. Does anybody out there have any idea why I'm coming apart or suffered any similar symptoms post IVF treatment. Yip many of my joints are still painful and slightly enlarged, nope there's no evidence of arthritis of either type in my blood results. Any suggestions most greatfully accepted.

I just read your comments and strangely enough I have been having all of the same.  I had'nt had a period since June 8.  Thought I was going through the change.  I was also on a supplement that is suppose to suppport the thyroid.  Also on 25 mg of synthroid. All was well until two weeks ago and I began getting cramps like I was going to start and then a swelling of a gland on the left side of my thyroid.  I have now had a period for two weeks and the swollen gland seems to be staying always getting more sore at night. Please let me know what you find out. Sher344
