Something I'd like to share with you ... Justice Rhenquist Thyr. Cancer ...

I just presented a 25min oral Powerpoint presentation today at school (college) and did great!  So great to feel confident about something like this presentation after all so many on the board (including myself) have gone through and continue to go through in daily life dealing with their thyrod issues.

It touched my heart deeply that I spent a minute on one of my slides quoting the lat Chief Justice Wm. Rhenquist ... he supported women and strongly disagreed with stereotypes in place about working women and he tried to change them by educating people about self-fulfilled prophcies, etc.

Well, it touched me deeply because as many may or may not know on this board that Justice Rhenquist lost his battle to THRYOID CANCER in 2005 .. so to me .. he is a personal hero .. and when I spoke of his efforts towards women I had a good friend in the class be my focal (eye) contact point in case I lost it .. but HE GAVE ME THE STRENGTH I needed to get up there and speak on behalf of women and stereotypes .... I pulled from the courage he had fighitng his cancer ... he didn't really lose ... he was fighting and his words continue to fight for all women.

My life is changed since my thyroid surgery in January .. mostly for the better .. and drawing from the strengths of friends on this board, or doing a research project and finding support in words, or whatever it takes is what acceptance is all about.

So I did my best ... and it was good ... not good .. it was GREAT.

Bottom Line:  I will be on the board more often .. but within the next week still have a Final Exam to prepare for and take home comprehnsive essay and cas study ... so just send me an IM if you'd like .. I'm reading the board .. just waiting for class to be over to respond more thoroughly.

PS:  (taking an easy science class next semeseter .. I miss the board!!!)

Way to go, girl!  I know how scared you were in prep for your first presentation.  Yes, after fighting thyca....everything else is small potatoes.  Way to conquer your fear!!!!

Good point on both accounts ... to clarify for all, I was only speaking of the one quote .... glad you brought it up so as not to start any political fire on the thread :) .. C~

Justice Rehnquist was an elderly male with anaplastic thyroid cancer which  is a very rare disease
( acounts for about 1% of thyroid cancers) and , opposite of the other kinds, is almost 100% fatal.
I won't get into politics but he was hardly a champion of any indivdual's rights.
