I take 90mg Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism and have been for about 8 years, originally diagnosed with goiter after I had my second child. I have to have a needle biopsy because one nodule is bigger than one cm and I was told they want to make sure it isn't cancer. I just recently had to have a small breast nodule biopsy because it was suspicious on the breast ultrasound two days ago, now I have to have the thyroid biopsied. Now I am petrified! Could these be related? This is my thyroid ultrasound results. What does all this mean???!!!! Should I be worried?
Rt Lobe: 5.6 x 2.0 x 1.6 cm in size.
Echotexture: Homogenous. There are four small nodularities extending from the superior pole to the inferior pole. Two small nodular echogenicities of 4-5 mm in size each are visible at the superior pole. At the mid pole is a nodule of 5-6 mm in size. At the inferior pole is a larger nodule of 1.6 x 0.9 x 0.8 cm in size. All of these nodules have smooth margins and are relatively hypoechoic.
Lt Lobe: 5.3 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm in size.
Echotexture: Homogenous. Two small nodularities identified. At the mid pole is a small nodule of 3 x 2 x 8 mm in size. Near the inferior pole is the second nodule of 3 x 2 x 3 mm in size. These nodules also have smooth margins and are relatively hypoechoic. Isthmus 2.3 mm in thickness.
Impression:
Cystic appearing nodules of both thyroid lobes although these nodules are not that of simple cysts. These nodules are smooth in contour, but they do contain some internal debris.
