Understanding the T3 treatments for dominant T3

I amnew to this site and trying to understand why, after 2.5 years on Oroxine 100 mcg per day I continue to feel listless, tired unergentic, fuzzy, and love excerciese but struggle to do it. I recently went to a natural path who is looking at my reverse T3 and i may have to change to a slow release form of treamtent pending results., I was interested to know in Australia what people have found when changing drugs and has there been any major benfits. Thanks Annette

Red has not been posting much lately so I just want to make sure you get this info before starting on your meds.  Did your doctor give you any instructions as to what the starting dosage should be?  I ask that because there is no way you should just start taking all that medication at once.  I'm afraid that you would get a reaction from it that would mimic being hyperthyroid.  You need to start with a much lower dose and give your body some time to acclimate to having thyroid hormone and then increase.

Personally I would not start with any more than half of the prescription for both of those meds, which would be 25 mcg of Oroxine and 30 mg of Armour.  Sometimes patients start even lower, so if there is any sign that you are not tolerating this dose, then just back off and slow down even more.  Since it takes about 4 weeks for the T4 part of the meds to build up and be fully effective, I would wait at least that long before increasing from the starting dose and then perhaps add only the additional 30 mg of Armour.  Then, after another 4 weeks, and depending on how you feel, you can consider adding in the last part of the Oroxine.

Just keep in mind that slow and sure is by far the best approach.  You absolutely do not want to go too quickly and cause a hyper reaction.

Annie the only two thryoid medications here are Eutroxsig and Oroxine. Both are made by the same company, Sigma and are T4 (thyroxine) medications only.

You might be lucky in Sydney to look around for a compounding pharmacist who can point you in the right direction of a doctor who prescribes T3 supplementation. Be aware though, getting extra T3 is ONLY of benefit if your Free T3 level is low.

Reverse T3 issue willonly be helped by going off the T4 medication, (will make you very hypo) and then going on T3 supplement for a while (usually 4 weeks) then reintroducing the T4 med on a lower dose then building back up. Often you won't need the T3 after that.
What was your RT3 number?
Does your Naturopath have the medical degree to prescribe T3?

You are aware that T3 medication here in Australia is not given regularly? It is next to impossible to get a doctor to prescribe it. It is usually naturopaths or compounding pharmacies who are really understanding of the whole idea of it.

BTW, I am an Aussie who is struggling BIG time to get my levels sorted and convince any doc T3 is needed in certain situations.
Cheers
