Update

Went to the radiology/surgeon, the guy to perform the FNA and low and behold,
they guy never touched me.  He looked at the film and stated that they
are too smaill to biopsy and the one nodule which is 1.0 x 0.9 x0.5  wasn't thick enoujgh.
He thinks we should watch them and do another U/S within the next 3-6 months.
He just think we should watch and thats it.

1.0 x 0.9 x 0.5 cm
0.4 x 0.4 x 0.4 cm hypoechoic solid
0.3 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm isoecoic

Has anyone else had to wait.  I thought if nodules were at least 1.0 cm they were biopsied.

Thanks for the help

Terri

Thanks Stella
I really needed that.  That is my worry that  all of this will come to a head after my job closes in June.

The two that shrunk was do to the RAI treatment in decmeber 07 which was suppose to kill off the thyroid.  The thyroid is not dead and now a 3rd nodule found.  I am so frustrated right now I could cry.

Im worrying about everything.  My thryoid, osteoarthritis, asthma/allergie and I take allergy shots, low postassium levels and low blood sugar.  The later two sent me to the hospital about a month ago. Now I am having incontinence issues.  that is no picknick for me.

The endo is now sending me for the renin and alderone (spelling off) test.

I was tested for cushings about 3 years ago before all this thyroid he// broke lose.

Im tired and I'm frustrated.

Thanks again
Terri

Geez Terri

I know this is frustrating - but with the size and not causing you any symptoms, I believe most doctors will look at this more on a wait and watch approach.

Unfortunately the timing is not good with your job situation. On a good point, you say you had decreased in size on two of them right?  Maybe that is being taken into consideration too. Normally you won't have any decreases if it is a carcinoma situation. They grow with cancer.

This ecomony is really hurting so many people and it is forcing us to make decisions - that may not be right - because of all this job lay-offs and closings.

I am fighting with it too Terri - just don't have a clear direction on if surgery is best for me - or if waiting is best. Work is scarey for me too and I worry alot that if I get laid-off - what will happen if everything comes to a head and I need to make some additional decisions without protection of insurance or the money either.

I guess I just won't go there with the stress it brings on for me. I stick to the thought that It is all work out somehow - and go about my things I need to do.

He basically said that that it would be like sticking a needle in a pea and he didnt want to put me through that. His opinion was to wait 3-6 months and do another u/s.  Stella, I don't have the funds to keep doing this and my job is closing.  Not that I am trying to rush anything, but the RAI treatment was suppose to kill off the thyroid.

At the time I had two nodules, which has shrunk and this new u/s picked up another one which is the one 1.0 cm.

The endo is also sending me for the Renin and Aldseterone test.  I just don't know what to do or think.
