It is a common misconception that palps are caused only by being hyper, not hypo. Have a look at this listing of heart related symptoms that can be related to hypothyroidism.
Heart:
High blood pressure
Low blood pressure
Slow/weak pulse (under 60 bpm)
Fast pulse (over 90 bpm at rest)
Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)
Skipped beats
Heart flutters
Heart palpitations
Chest pain
High cholesterol
High triglycerides
High LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
Mitral Valve Prolapse
Atherosclerosis
Coronary Artery Disease
Elevated C-Reactive Protein
Fibrillations
Plaque buildup
Fluid retention
Poor circulation
Enlarged heart
Congestive Heart Failure
Stroke
Heart Attack
So, no I don't think the Synthroid affected you like that. Taking the Cytomel could have helped, since your Free T3 is in the lower part of the range and needs to be increased. There are also other possible contributors as well. At next opportunity I'd ask doctor to test for ferritin again, along with magnesium, and a saliva cortisol test ( 4 tests taken over a 24 hour period). Push for the saliva cortisol test because a single serum cortisol test they usually want to run is not very useful as a diagnostic.
Yes, I did see that. Thank you for your input and wisdom.
I am just confused, as my old doctor had mentioned that heart palpitations were only a result of being hyper, not hypo. But that is not true? I don't think I am hyper. My temps in the morning are still 97, BP is still normal, heart rate throughout the day is still normal.
I hate to think I was removing the one thing that is helping me (Cytomel) because I am afraid of it.
I can't figure any of this out. Would not taking the Synthroid for a single night contribute at all? Or not even possible, because it's such a slow acting drug?
On your previous thread I mentioned " Also, those symptoms are sometimes related to being hypo as well." Of the possible causes you have mentioned I'd say that taking the Cytomel would be at the top of my list.
I should add… I usually take my last dose of Cytomel around 1PM.
