WHAT HE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME?

I am a 48 year old female that has been on Unithroid for over 23 years. I have several different kinds of health issues happening to me for about 2 years now. Every time I go to the doctor she blames it on stress or my thyroid. Most of the time she says it'd stress. Well, I'm getting stressed over not getting the right answers!
I am always tired......all the time....I have been gaining weight like crazy for no reason.....I had an episode 2 months ago where my both legs felt like I was treading water all the time. Even after sleeping all night and resting they still felt numb and heavy. It went away by itself after 4 weeks. I can't remeber anything like I use to....I get flutters in my throat followed by dizzy spells. I wake up in the morning with puffy eyes and swollen hands.....I force myself to go to work where I am active all day  but the minute Isit down for a break I feel like I have to fight something inside to get going again to finish the day.Sometimes I have what seem to e a brief black out where I loose it like I am going to pass out but catch myself mentally and stop it......I don't have anymore sex drive at all....I HAD A STRESS TEST THAT WAS FINE, AN EKG THAT WAS FINE, BLOOD TESTS FOR INFECTION(cbc) THAT WAS FINE, LIVER TESTS FINE,TEAT FOR LYME DISEASE FINE, AND MY THYROID WAS WITHIN RANGE OF BEING OK. The doctor checked me with a test called t3 and t4, tsh. Do you have anything you could tell me that might be the problem.

Have they checked your potassium levels? I know when my levels got below 3.4 I was fainting quite a bit. MY PCP definitely attributed the fainting spells to my low potassium. I would ask to have my ELECTROLYTES CHECKED. If it is your Potassium K Tabs and Spirolactin work good for me, on top of eating more veggies. Good luck!

I agree 100% with AR-10.

My mother is in the same situation as you are. Her TSH is 3.7 on meds, but she has symptoms of hypo. Instead her doctor put her on 3 high bp meds, antidepressant and a statin for high cholesterol!!

I'd be willing to bet your TSH is above a 3. Are you seeing and endo or PCP?

That may be your problem right there.

All three of those tests can be in the "normal range", and still be bad.

You should be getting a Free T3 test, and a Free T4 test. Not a total T4. Not a T3 uptake test. Free T3, Free T4. The results should be in the upper half of the range, but not at the top of the range.

Your TSH should be between 0.8 and 2.0.
4.0 is high enough to make you sick.

You need to get a copy of your tests and see what was run, and what are the numbers.

"Within normal range" is not good enough.
