With Graves disease you usually lose weight due to being hyperthyroid. Weight gain problems are usually associated with calorie intake/exercise levels, low metabolism related to low thyroid hormone levels, insulin resistance, or PCOS. If you are sure that there is no calorie/exercise issue, then since you mention some type of possible thyroid issue, I suggest that you should start there. You need to get tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4 (not the same as Total T3 and T4), along with TSH. I also suggest that you should test for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin. If you will get those done and post results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, then members will be glad to help interpret and advise further.
Also, do you have any other symptoms besides the weight gain?
I've been told I have graves disease..I'm not on any medication and I've gained 110 pounds the past 3 years..are you not on any medication for the thyroid either? I am sick to death of gaining and feel totally alone..I just gained another 3 pounds in one week. :(

How were you diagnosed with hyperthyroid? What other symptoms do you have besides weight gain? Please post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
I was diagnosed 3 months ago with hyper.... and I am so confussed. Over the past few years I have gained about 60 pounds but they say with hyper.... you lose weight. I am glad Im not the only one who has gained weight for no reson. I am hoping they get my thyroid under controll so maybe I can lose weight. grrrrrrrr
