I'm too healthy!

Well, there you have it. I have been officially dismissed by my endocrinologist for being too healthy!
All my levels are wonderful, ( I am pleased myself!) He figures I can drop the Vit D to one every 2nd day (1,000iu) and just keep doing what it is I am doing.
Did ask him about my anti-bodies still being there and he said, "They'll always be there. The damage is done and now you have to live with it. They might drop a tiny bit, but you will never be rid of them" Hmmm...so Hashimoto's will be my bosom buddy for life!
I have been feeling pretty darn good lately. Still a bit forgetful (sent two clients the wrong packages the other day..ooops!) but otherwise still good. I figured the Hashi's is playing up due to the intense stress of the bushfires 7 weeks ago. Also my hair is falling out again terribly, but of course, go back 7 weeks and I was under intense stress! (Read my post about hair loss earlier.)

TSH 0.41            (0.35-5.50)
Free T4 16.7       (9.0-25.0)        Australian Ref range for these 3 tests.
Free T3  3.7        (3.5-6.5)

Vit D   146          (60-160)nmol/L

Not bad when my level was 33 before I started the Vit D tablets back mid last year!

Thyroglobulin antibodies  78 (<60)
Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies   146 (<60)

After my partial in May 07 I had the antibodies done and I was 1468 (TPO)! So they have dropped but not gone away. (I jokingly said, Oh maybe they forgot to add the 8 to the end of the results this time...he didn't appreciate the humour...sigh....)
So, in short, I am supposedly too healthy for him to see me anymore...
I told him I would write a book on; 'How to avoid seeing an endocrinologist'...he said..."Oh no! You'll put me out of business", my reply..."That's my aim."

So, yes yes yes, I am hyper, yes yes yes I drop the Vit D I go backwards and suffer from calcium issues...but in his opinion I am healthy..just bugger ever finding out WHY I am the way I am in the first place!

Have a nice day.

Nope! He never mentioned anything..Just a tick next to each piece of pathology with his comments...That's great, that's great...He never tells me what they are, even when I asked,....so sneaky me, just asked to get copies...He blustered and carried on, Why do you need them? I politely said, "Well, in case your practice burns down, or you get broken into, or I move interstate...." He looked at me dumbfounded...(I am a cheeky brat!)
So, of course, me ever having the cheek to ask if my levels are normal, is always answered with, Yes of course!  My Free T3 is falling. My levels are still too hyper, and I even had the good grace of having a heart palpitation as he took my blood pressure...he just looked at me, saying nothing......GO FIGURE!
So my post about being healthy was really a bit more tongue in cheek than most people realised! I do feel fairly good..but have rotten days every now and then. I still KNOW I am too hyper with Free T3 falling...but alas! He seems to believe I am healthy and no longer wishes to see me...this is a good thing? Who knows! But I do know I am taking charge of my own health and not letting anyone tell me otherwise.
So in the meantime I am doing what I can to STAY healthy....and sane...and happy....yeah happy is good!

Hey Red -

Nice to hear.

( Free T3 seems low hun) Didn't he say anything on that?

Maybe these levels are your sweet spot for thyroid support. My antibodies don't seem to be lowering either - but I feel good too.

Take care in Aussie land!

Good job.  You give me hope.  I am just starting with my endo on Thursday post TT.  I have a long ways to go.
You were talking about your antibodies.  Mine were higher than normal (something like 367) three weeks before the TT.  I have seen others much higher.  What do they do now?  Just hang out and be?  I keep being concerned that they will go find something else to mess with.

Great news!  Maybe you're not interested in writing an entire book.  But what about a booklet, recapping how you came to be diagnosed, the merry-go-rounds and roller-coasters of your illness.  You're so good at expressing your feelings and urging encouragement.  Give it a thought?  It would be so helpful to others.  Maybe in journal form?  Continued good health to you!
