I am at work and can't get into this in depth now.
CAn you PM me this question?
hi I am going to start armour soon (going to new doc on june 10th).
My understanding with the armour is that you start off and up your dose each week,by 1/2 grain, until you reach 3 grains, then hold that dose for 4 weeks until you get labs. Oh and also I read that if you are having a hard time upping the armour it could be that you need adrenal support. Are you also taking selinium ? or any other supplements like iron or vitamin d to help the conversion of the t4?

I told you about the temporary headaches with Armour - Didn't I...????
You have good and bad days -- just lijke "normal " people - Our bodies with or without a thyroid do not produce exactly the same hormones each and every day. So med induced levels ( that are always the same) will react differently sometimes.
Dear Anree,
I dont have the answers but I do know that I still do this up and down buisness after six weeks on meds. Doc started me on 50mcg - tested bloods and increased to 100mcg. In some ways I feel better- not as cold and less joint pains - but they are still there! The fatigue eases of and then hits me again. As yet I have had no element of hyper (hoping not to!) - in fact still feel slightly hypo - but then I guess it may take a little longer for the increased meds to kick in.
They actually found some positive auto antibodies on my blood tests, and now that I have pushed a little with the doc he has referred me to the specialist. I do wonder if the left over syptoms are that with me? but I have to wait gawd knows how long to find out!!
Im sure we are not alone inhaving good days and bad- lets pray that lifts as we acclimatise to the meds!!
Love Manxie xx
I have just decided to consider myself NUTS!!!!!!!!! Since Sat, I have felt AWESOME!!!!!! I mean fantastic. I mean what the HE//!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea anymore and I sure am not going to tell my Dr that cause then he'll for sure not do anylabs or up the meds!!!! My headaches are gone and I have energy!!! I swear anree... I am just crazy!!!
I would like to know why we feel great one day and not the next. Shouldn't we feel crappy all the time if we are not at the right level? What I can't figure out is the headaches I've been getting! If it's not one thing it's the other!
You know my story just as well as I do....
I was hypo then hyper in the matter of a month and a half from just .100mcg of levothyroxine...in between that time anxiety and waking up with the shakes happened the whole entire time... I dont understand why we dont get started at like .25 or .50,,,, its very disappointing to be promised to feel better within a week and then feel like absolute S***
Yeah... I swear my pharmacist knows more than my ENDO!! She gives me such good advice etc... They know more about these meds than our so called DR's!! I am a very low dose of Armour... I understand that this is protocol, but it sucks cuz I know I am going toward the HYPO!! So now by the time I see him the 9th, get the labs and then the results... it will be 3 weeks later and I will be even more HYPO than I already am!! Just lovely!!! Mine is weird... one day I feel great, like yesterday. I was able to be out from 10am-8pm feeling great!!!!! Went to a bball game, dinner and movie...Whats that about?? I mean if I were hypo, wouldnt it be consistent or getting worse everyday?? I had a cold sore this past week on the roof of my mouth and I was told that this can give you the achey, headache feeling. well the cold sore is gone and so is the hypo feelings. I am stumped!!
Because they're still practicing?
I don't know. Like you say, we see it all the time.
I had a med change a month ago. I was on 100mcg of Synthroid, and I SLOWLY went hyper. Instead of cutting me back to 88mcg, my Endo cut me back to 75mcg.
I'm pretty sure I will soon be Hypo, and then my Endo will probably skip right past 88mcg again and put me back on 100mcg. If she does, I will pitch a fit and the dose will be 88mcg.
But I shouldn't have to tell her how to do her job.
I think if they spent six months going hyper/hypo/hyper/hypo, they would be a little more attentive.
