Hope you find some help on that, i have found nothing to relieve the gritty eyes and had suffered this for years:(
I upped my Cytomel today and the grittiness has been better.

Look up Sjogrens Syndrome
I use TeraTears Nutrition
I did research Sjogren's Syndrome. My ANA antibody test was negative last spring. I had the dry eyes then. Do you think I should have another test?
I know that dry skin/eyes is a symptoms of hypothyroidism, so I'm not sure what I have.
Also, I read that people with Sjogren's have high alk phos, and mine is very low. My liver, kidney function have not always been normal, though. See below:
February 13 09
Albumin High 4.8
Alk Phos Low 25
ALT High 44
Feb 20 09
Alk Phos Low 18
March 13 09
Creat 0.6 Low
Albumin High 4.8
MPV High 11.3
April 28 09
Albumin High 4.7
Alk PHos Low 22
April 09 09
Albumin High 4.7

I just did some Googling and found that 80 percent of people with Sjogren's also have positive ANA antibodies, which I didn't. Also, they have high Alk Phos and low Albumin. I'm the opposite; however, I have been worrying about Sjogren's for the past week now. I have to worry about something!
Today my eyes were much better. I took an extra Cytomel in the afternoon. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

I was using the systane too and really didn't like it....of all things I found a particular kind of visine that is helping as much as anything. I don't have it with me....so I'll get back to you with what it is...It's a bit cheaper than the systane too. Still have to reapply a time or two, but it isn't every half hour for me.
Where do you get TeraTears?

Thanks! I quit Visine because the optometrist had me on other stuff. I don't think the Systane works very well. The GenTeal does work at night, because my eyes feel good in the morning, but by afternoon time, it's back to the Systane.
