When to take Cytomel

2 questions:

1.  Should I take Cytomel at same time I take my Synthroid, or take it an hour or two after I take Synthroid?
2.  Should I split dosage in half?  Half in morning, half in afternoon?  Or take the entire dosage at once?  I take 10 mcg total daily.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

There is no need to take your T4 and T3 meds separately. As for the Cytomel,  T3 acts so fast that it is better to split it into two doses, one in the morning and one in the early afternoon.

Most people take half their Cytomel with their T4 meds first thing in the morning.  The other half is taken late morning or early afternoon.  Most people avoid taking it after about 3:00 pm so sleep isn't disturbed.  Due to the fast acting nature of T3, taking it all at once often creates peaks and valleys in levels throughout the day.

However, feel free to experiment with the timing of the second dose to see what works best for you and your schedule.
