Sorry, I should have clarified. I developed insomnia when I had graves/hyper/goiter. Had TT so became technically hypo. Insomnia was and still is one of the two symptoms I carried over. (Thyroid eye disease).

Yes, insomnia is very common with hypothyroid. Some still have insomnia even on thyroid meds.

Magnesium and Valerian root before bed help me. Also the right thyroid med for the individual helps with sleep.

I've always been an insomniac, but being hypo caused me to crash asleep more often during the day, almost to the point of being suspected of having narcolepsy. The sleep wasn't restful, though, and I woke up feeling as though I had never slept.

Yes. Insomnia has been with me for the last 16yrs. Literally 3-4 hrs asleep a night. My brain will not shut off. I know my body is exhausted, but it won't be still long enough to fall asleep. I have tried the OTC sleep aides, prescription sleep aides, & sleep doctors, nothing works except when I take 20mg of Ambien once every 2-3 months, seriously.

I guess I am just used to it that it does not bother me, I know my body is tired, but my brain says different. Have you spoken to your doctor about it?
