Why do some need multiple doses per day of Armour Thyroid?

Some take Armour Thyroid once per day in the morning, and others split dosages.

If I can't function well unless I split my doses of Armour Thyroid throughout the day,
is this a diagnostic clue to the underlying cause of my hypothyroidism?

Is there a unique disease process causing hypothyroidism in people who need multiple doses of Armour Thyroid per day?

If it's the fast-acting T3 in Armour Thyroid, then people taking synthetic T3, Cytomel, experience the same fast-acting T3 response and take multiple doses of Cytomel throughout the day?

What goolarra said. And...........

People like multiple dose not just Armour but all the other brands of dessicated natural thyroid as well (Nature Throid, NP Thyroid, Erfa Canadian).

Not only is T3 have a more potent effect, but all dessicated thyroid meds have a higher T3 to T4 ratio in them compared with what the human body has. So your FT3 levels are always much unnaturally higher than T4.

My  theory based on using natural thyroid:You are basically living on T3, that's why most feel better in multi dosing to level the energy. The T4 in our bodies doesn't do much for energy when you have more potent "hits" of T3 in you.

It has nothing to do with Hashimotos disease and everything to do with taking T3.

No.  Armour thyroid has T3 in it as well as T4.  T3 is very fast-acting and soon neutralized by your body if not used promptly.  So, many people find that multiple doses keep their FT3 levels more steady throughout the day.  Other people don't seem to be as sensitive and find they can take it in one dose.

You don't know the cause of your hypo?  TPOab and TGab blood tests will tell you if the cause is Hashi's, which is the most prevalent cause of hypo in the developed world.
