My husband asked me to make a house payment b4 he left for work yesterday. It was taped to the computer screen for gosh sakes! All I had to do was call a really nice lady at the mortage company that I've befriended via phone, and ask her to apply the payment...
Cut to 3 am this morning and I woke up un a cold sweat because I'd forgotten SEVERAL things I "had to" get done yesterday. Just one of them was the house payment. My husband asked me this morning what I was doing up in the middle of the night last night. The look on his face when I told him I'd forgotten to make the payment, made me want to cry.
I'm just not the girl I used to be when it comes to memory. I keep waiting and waiting... the next dosage/med change, I'll get better... So far, no luck...
Last time I had thyroid problem my memory was so bad I nearly burned down my kitchen. I use my mobile phone for all my notes now, it just keeps on making a noise until I do whatever it is I need to do- like make food for my son, etcHa Ha you have to laugh or you will go mad!!!
I had a memory once....I put it down and now I can't remember where I put it. Forgetfulness seems to be a big issue in most thyroid patients lives. Sticky notes help! So does having a diary, and other methods of coping. It more than likely will get better, but time is the only thing that will help.
Getting levels right take time, and that is not much help to you I am sure! Just know that many of us are like Alzheimer's and at least we can laugh about our lack of memory antics!
Cheers!
What was the question?
(*reads again...*)
Uh, yeah. Next month. Make a note. :-/
Seriously, memory problems and word recall problems get better fairly soon after you achieve a euthroid condition. The problem is staying there.
That means getting your hormones and your TSH where they need to be, and stay there for a few months. Then your memory problems will be the first to go. So they keep telling me...
