antithyroid peroxidase

hi, i am fatima and wish to know the meaning of my thyroid test result. my T3,T4 and TSH were all in normal ranges but my antithyroid peroxidase results showed 440 while the normale range mentioned was 0-12. i had been diagnosed with hypothyroidim 2 years ago and i am already taking 150mcg of eltroxin daily.i do have goiter but docs say it is not harmful or anything.
so what does the elevated test results mean?

It means you have antibodies and have an autoimmune disease (as Stella says).
Get your Doctor to check you for Hashimoto.
The Goiter is causing the antibody count to be high.
The antibodies are attacking your thyroid causing it to malfunction and thats why you are on Eltroxin (thyroid replacement).
Whereabouts are you as Eltroxin is usually prescribed in New Zealand?

Did you doctors mention anything about autoimmune hypothyroidism like Hashimoto?
