any advice on keeping warm?

As some of you may know, I have been being treated for hypo since early march.  more recently as winter has been beginning (in australia!) I have been so cold.  Near impossible to keep warm.  My feet get cold in shoes and socks, most of the day I wear ugg boots and socks just to keep my feet warm.  I wear track pants and a jacket inside the house everyday where my dad sits around in long pants and a Tee shirt.

I find it near impossible to keep warm, my body temp hovers around 35.9 - 36.1 degrees Celcius most of the time so its just within the normal range.

Im really struggling to stay warm - how can I keep myself warm???????

When I go out I wear 2 long sleve shirts and a jacket with track pants and 2 pairs of socks and Im usually still cold!!  While Im home I either sit in front of the heater or sit in bed with the electric blanket lol....going shopping today to see about thicker socks and a few other things.

Its weird, usually I dont feel the cold at all...dr has blamed my hypo.  Usually in winter I just wear jeans and a long sleve shirt, this year im cold in 2 shirts and a jacket...this isnt me!!  Its strange.

Thanks for your ideas!!

Honestly I usually just kept the thermostat set to 80F, and I'd wear a close fitting long sleeved shirt under a sweatshirt or another long sleeved shirt, and sweatpants, but even then I found myself standing next to the heater.

For feet, I have Reynaud's so if my feet cot cold the circulation would get cut off, and the only way to warm them up would be to stand in a tub of hot water. Once I got them warm I could usually keep them warm with thermal socks and uggs but on occasion I've had to go to the sports shop and get some of those hand and feet warmers in the skiing section.

Thanks Deb, will definately check out ebay for thermals.  If I cant get any on ebay I might go check out Kmart or Big W during the week some time.  As for my bed...my electric blanket does a good job - often I stay in bed half the day only because my bed is the only way I can warm up!!!  I've been looking for a little heater for my room but am yet to find one my parents agree on buying!!!

Hi Nat_16, Have you been tested for Vitamin B12-deficiency anemia? An Iron deficiency can sometimes also cause us to feel cold all time, and In my case a copper deficiency cased me to feel hot all the time.  You try Googling "cold all the time mineral deficiency"  and see if any of what you find fits your problem.  I have corrected a great deal of my Thyroid and other health issues by getting my hair analyzed and finding what Minerals i was low in and eating foods that are high in those nutrients and also some supplementation.

Good Luck.

Use what I use lol....thermal leggibgs and thermal t-shirt in the day and a wheat bag in the bed at night for my feet lol.

Nat ...Australia really has a cold BITE at the moment and its been going on for about 2 months...even I have noticed it.

So get some thermal tops and leggings to go under yr pants from Ebay.
I got mine from there and they were only $10 each compared to the $20 in BIG /KMART stores.

I swear by them.
I also put the wheat bag in the bed 1/2 hr before going to bed so that where my feet are gonna be is warm.
Most hospital and craft markets sell the wheat bags for around $8.

Dont forget to put 1/2 cup of water in the microwave when you heat for 2-3 mins so that the wheat stays hotter :)
Hugs x
