Starting over..... AGAIN!

I had my thyroid under control until I had my last blood test. There was no change after being on the same dose for a whole year. So I did the unheard of.... I trusted that it was going to be ok so I refilled my prescription with Generic instead of Brand Name Synthroid. My insurance covers the generic and does not the brand name. The difference in price is a big major amount in this day and age of counting penny's.

After having my period change dramatically along with 10 lbs of weight gain while dieting.... I finally went to the doctor. My tyroid was off. After about 2 weeks back on synthoid I am back on track (period is normal again) but here I am with 10 lbs to loose (or more!) that I gained while I was dieting and exercising? This weight thing is about to make me just want to be plump! What a stuggle it has been for nothing. What is a good diet that works for someone 52 and just a little overweight.

I am loosing hope and do not want to give up... or else I gain a bunch and be a big blob.... like I started out to be with this whole mess of thryoid hell.

Do you have symptoms, other than the weight gain and problems with your menstrual flow?

I agree with gimel, if you could post recent labs, it be very helpful.

Sally - these situations are tough - but almost all thyroid patients get snagged up from time to time.

Its a hard knock learning process and now you know never to do that again.

Good Luck. You should adjust again just fine - and quick.... taking you were optimal shortly ago.

I'm curious about how you determine when you are okay, or not okay relative to thyroid issues.  Are you basing it on how you feel, or test results?  Could you please post some of your recent thyroid test results and reference ranges so that members give you their interpretation?
