Just an update, some prune juice cleared things out now fruits vegetables and water--no soda--seem to be working great! (they also raised the synthroid so that probably helps too.)
Try not to worry.. I just had a baby in July and i'm hypothyroid from hashimotos for 3 years now.
Your doc did the right thing by raising your meds because 6.1 is high but doesn't sound like it's out of hand "my last TSH postpartum was 102 just to give you an idea of how high it can actually go, some people higher but of course you wouldn't want to be that high pregnant, but just so you know 6.13 in comparison helps you see it's not so high.. don't worry too much about that.
Do you have your last labs? other than just TSH? did they do Free T3 and Free T4? What level of synthroid were you on pre-pregnancy?
I was on 100mcg pre-pregnancy and then bumped to 112mcg when i found out i was pregnant and stayed at that level the entire pregnancy.. I have heard and in my case the thyroid is somewhat stable during pregnancy, you supply the babies thyroid hormone the first 8 - 10 weeks.
The thyroid gland of the fetus begins to function by the end of the third month of gestation but prior to that time, the fetus is largely dependent on maternal thyroid hormones. The fetal thyroid gland gains the ability to produce thyroid hormones by around the eighth to tenth week of gestation. In the twelfth week of gestation, it begins to exhibit the ability to trap iodine actively and begins to produce thyroxine soon after.
with all that said a TSH of 6.13 is high, however not high enough to "starve" the baby of proper thyroid hormone. Babies that have problems from maternal thyroid are usually to mothers who are not treated at all for their thyroid issues or even aware they have issues....
The constipation can be related to thyroid levels as well as pregnancy in general.. I ate a lot of fruits and fiber "as well as everything else haha"
relax and breath momma, sounds like you are in the clear, Just take your synthroid every day :)
