I don't understand how she (your doctor) can "think " you have this situation. She ran blood work in 2005 and has a visual US scan showing an abnormal gland.
She ways she wants to run more tests which is correct and would require for sure a TPOab test indicating for sure (if abnormal) that Hashimoto autoimmune thyroiditis should be treated.
When are you going for more tests?
Your TSH lab from 2005 indicates subclinical hypothyroid depending on her reference ranges she is using.
For the update references ranges of .3 - 3.0 - you "clinically" could be treated for hypothyroid right now for sure.
Sounds like mine when they were first ran. You might have hashi's its important to have your antibodies tested! Even an ultrasound. I would go before november if you can.
I just got my old blood work from 2005
TSH: 4.799
T4: 10.1
T3 UPTAKE: 21 (LOW)
FREE THYROXINE INDEX: 2.1
HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP MY DOCTOR SEE THINGS ARE OUT OF SORTS.
Thank you, I am going back in Nov. to get tests run again. Hopefully some answers will come about.
It sounds like your thyroid is slightly swollen and has a few scarred areas or areas of infection.
Thyroiditis.
She is probably going to run antibody tests as well as checking your thyroid hormone levels again. She may have already done that.
You will find it beneficial to keep track of your test results.
Welcome to the board. Browse around and feel free to ask any questions you wish.
She also said she could not treat me yet.
Also my ultrasound states:
The thyroid gland is prominent in size with the right lobe messuring 5.5cm in greatest lenght. There is bilateral inhomogeneity but no discrete masses are evident.
Impression: The thyroid gland is prominent is size and inhomogeneous.
