A good excuse for DEMANDING test results is the you "keep them in a folder for future reference". If you don't do that, the time to start is TODAY.

As we age, that folder gets very handy. Believe me, you want to streamline your 40's health as much as possible, a good new years resolution! Now at 42, I'm healthier than I was at 35 by taking control of and self educating about my health. Dont mean to lecture, you get the point.

If the results look good, may be time to try a new med. I was on a med and improperly dosed for 10 years. Doctors are like car mechanics, they would find this an insult but its true. Some 'get it', some don't. Repeating the same thing gives same results, zip, nothing.

Congrats to you for seeking answers.

i do not know my lab results except that my doc said they were past halfway normal. i will be calling him monday and ask for a better answer than that. i have been on 112 for about 5 months now. i take it in morning on empty stomach and dont put anything in my mouth at least for an hour after.  i know i get sleep at night cause i dream weird or freaky stuff all the time. its just hard to drive or function on a daily basis when you cant keep your eyes open or you just dont have the energy to even get up and move. and like everyone else, i have responsabilities...  i just wish my doc would try me on something else or at least care enough to see whats going on with me.   anyway thanks for the replies guys.

Yes - as others asked, post labs (when, how much med at test time and ranges). Note: best to have lab test in morning before thyroid meds, can give false readings after meds are taken.

Gerd, in many cases is a hypo symptom. Hypo can slow down all digestion processes. Not always. For many this can go away with the thyroid med that best works for them. You are on the 'gold standard' starter med that works for the majority but not all. Your T4 med - take on empty stomach no food 1 hour after, separate from other sups, vitamins, and  meds 4 hours.

1)Symptom relief can depend on how long you had symptoms before it was D'xed, as many are Dx'd to late in the hypo stages. A whole year should be plenty of time though. So If your labs look good and your doc has tried to treat by free T's you may need to try another med. This is one reason we ask to see lab results.

2)Do you have any other hypo symptoms besides these two that remain?

3)Tiredness can also be from poor sleep. Sleep hours does not matter if quality is not there. Its all about REM the dream time. 'Light' sleep can be a thyroid issue or separate issue. As a test you can use over the counter sleep aids before bed for three weeks to see if daytime drowsiness alleviates. Take only enough to sleep, not so much that you are groggy.

Yeah, if you could post your most recent labs.
Also, you may want to look at your other meds and how they interact with absorbsion. Most people that have thyroid problems have some depression, but find out that once their levels are taken care of, they feel better. I am not advocating you to stop taking this, just stating a fact. Also, when do you take the synthroid morning, night, etc. with food, without food? This all plays a big part. I would think that the celexa would make you feel like a zombie at times from what I have heard. Also, the prevacid is for GERD or acid reflux which means it is changing the composition of your stomach. This could play a part on how your synthroid is getting absorbed. If you are properly absorbing the T4, you will not have good levels and still feel HYPO.

Hope this helps post labs if you  can. Also, 6months is a long time in between labs. T4 has a long half life but not that long.

Do you know what your most recent lab results were? How long have you been on the 112 dose? 6 weeks should be long enough to determine if that dose is working.
