I really hate the trend doctors have gone to with staples--fast closing--moving on to another patient.
Make sure your doctor knows in advance that you want sutures--and the type. Make sure you have this agreement verifiable in some way. If your doctor will not do the sutures as you would like them--find another doctor.
I'm a difficult patient, but I usually get what is best for my body.
I'm sorry about the staples--I bet that is uncomfortable given the area they are in. Hope it heals better soon.
I haven't heard of staples being used for TT. I had internal stitches and surgical glue- very small scar. I don't know how long after they remove staples. Just make sure it is not infected. Good luck.
My mistake... I won't have staples internally, rather i'll have stitches that will dissolve internally. I re-read my post and realized I'd put staples, not stitches. Oops!
No - not at all. I had internal, dissolvable sutures and steri-strips (surgical tape) on the outside. Had this for both of my surgeries as did the rest of the family. I've never had staples for any of my 9 surgeries.
Very interesting
I was just told by my surgeon that he will be using staples internally but that my external incision would be closed with something he said is like glue. Therefore, I won't have staples that need to be removed. Is that what was used in your surgeries?
Staples? Hmmm - haven't experienced that for thyroid surgery or any of the thyroid surgeries I've personally been involved with.
