fatigue before RAI

I discontinued Cytomel and began the low-iodine diet 2 days ago in preparation for radio-iodine. Those who have been through this, do you feel tired, or totally incapacitated? Are you able to work and take care of children, or is it difficult to accomplish anything?

Never took Cytomel but I'm on the LID right now in week 2 and have been off meds since Dec.21st and to be honest......I could not feel any worse than I do right now. If Utahmomma is correct and I'm gonna get even worse than this, well, I feel very sorry for me. I was totally fine up until 2 days ago. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm exhausted, dizzy, weak and so sick of this diet.  I don't know what the heck a TSH level is but mine better be spot on what it needs to be by this friday for my RAI because if it's not I will somehow find it in me to lose my mind.

I skipped the Cytomel - just wanted to get the RAI over with as soon as possible.  I started feeling tired but by week #2 without meds, vitamins, etc. and on the LID I was practically a zombie.  By week #3 my TSH was at 76.  Actually the week after the RAI (when I started back on my synthroid) was the worst - the Synthroid hadn't had a chance to bring the TSH down yet.

Good news is by about week 3-4 after the RAI you should be feeling back to normal.

Hang in there!

I have been off my cytomel since 1/9/08 and I am also on the LID!  I have episodes of nausea, dizziness, headaches, joint aches, fatigue and dry skin!  I have continued working, but some days I have to come home in the afternoon due to dizziness and nausea along with brain fog!  I have good days and then I will just crash for no reason!  I will keep you updated on how I feel!  Some people do fine and don't feel much of anything.  I hope you are one of the lucky ones that feels ok during this period!
