generic medicine

Wonder if someone can help, have all symptoms of throid storm except fever, went to ER five days ago or so, TSH 137 -DR changed RX from 125 mcg to 25 mcg gave me genric for levoxyl. Went to a MD 2 days ago,s I never had before, throat hurt, pressure behind eyes, dizzy "bad" it was doc I've never been to before. Didn't care about previous lung cx, pituitary tumor, Galactorrea, absent periods since 39 yrs old, now 47, nothing was ever tested with tumor, just said they were going to watch it, immune disorder. This doctor was horrible, came in room after I waited 45 minutes in exam room, heard him fighting on phone with husband & wife on 2 different line, finally came in room, ask why I was there, started to tell him and he grabbed by labs from ER said yeah so what , they double your dose of medicine, I can't re-test, its to soon, then he says well I can but it won't do anygood or you can get your money back and leave. I'm in a real hard place right now, Just moved to Orlando, went to a dr last year had emergeny cat scan of chest pelvic and abdomen because my stomach looked pregnant and was told everything was fine only to get a registered letter a year later to tell me some abnormal test results came back. I really don't know where to turn but My queston, this am I woke up almost feeling a bit better until I took this medicine and now the dizzy spells are back. I didn't have them when I woke up. Is this normal?

Get FT3 and FT4 tested.  They say a lot more about what's going on than TSH.  Since you know you have a pituitary tumor, TSH is TOTALLY unreliable as a diagnostic tool.  It's very important to have FT3 and FT4...you should do it ASAP.  IF your TSH of 137 proves to be reliable (as supported by FT3 and FT4), you need treatment immediately.

No the ER didn't do it, Thats why I went to doctor. He didn't want anything to do with it.
I do not have insurance or a job at this time so it's hard to do anything. The tumor was diagnosed because I made the PA order a MRI and it was found ,though no other test were done except for an  MRI every year. Haven't had one in 3 yrs.  I'm so sick, can hardly drive, hospital said I can't go back unless I pay 100.00 it their policy. Tried to get appt for one of those clinic's that are based on a pay scale, said I couldn't even get appt. til end of June and that is just with a financial advisor. I am so lucky to have found a  job in this economy and suppose to start on the 1st "hope I feel better" It's taken 6 wks for the job to fall together.  I will not go back to this MD, maybe if I need a bandaid "lol"

Please tell us specifically what your symptoms are.

Did they do free T3 (FT3) and free T4 (FT4) test in the ER, along with TSH?  If so, please post along with their reference ranges.

Your new doctor is obviously a jerk, but he did get one thing right - it was way too soon for retesting (assuming the ER tested FT3 and FT4).  Dosage changes aren't reflected accurately in bloodwork for five to six weeks.

You have been diagnosed with a pituitary tumor - is that correct?  If so, that could very well be influencing your TSH, and making it artificially high.

Try to get ahold of your FT3 and FT4 as soon as possible.  If the ER didn't run those, then have blood drawn as soon as you can.
