hair loss

So this is a very silly question - but I'm having A LOT of hair loss....to the point that I'm getting some ugly bald spots (not at all pretty on women!!)  When I finally get on the right meds, will my hair grow back or will I always be stuck with bald spots/thin hair?

Please get the results and post them. That will help folks here better able to help you.

But if you say is true. it would indicate that you may have a conversion problem.  that is some trouble or inefficiency with converting the T4 into usable T3.  Selenium can help with this but also too much Selenium can be toxic so you want to be mindful of that.

Usually people with conversion issues need to have a source of T3 medication added. This can be done by at least two ways; 1) adding in synthetic T3 (Cytomel) or 2) switching to Natural Dissected Thyroid (Armour, Nature Thyroid or Efra etc.)

Your body only uses the free T3 hormone. So if you dont' have enough in your blood there simply is not enough to be used by your body's cells.  This is why it is so critical to get free T3 tested and to  make sure the level is high enough (usually about upper 1/3 of the range) in your blood.

I don't have the exact results on me but my FT4 is good - in the middle of the range but my FT3 was only about 45%.  Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding a doctor that will give me any additional meds because I'm in "normal range".  :(  I have an appt with a good doctor (or so I've heard) but it isn't until August...

From what members have reported, when their Free T3 and Free T4 levels have been adjusted adequately to relieve symptoms, then hair regrowth occurred.  Many of our members, myself included, report that symptom relief  required that Free T3 was adjusted into the upper third of its range and Free T4 adjusted to around the middle of its range.  What are the levels of your Free T3 and Free T4, compared to their reference ranges?
