having TSH level of 3.2 is going to affect my fertility?

It was discovered that I am having hypothyroid in sept 2006 with my TSH level 8.2, I was refered to an endocrinologist by my gynic. My endo has put me on medication of synthroid 25 mg,after six weeks on medication I got my blood work done and now my TSH level is 3.2,right now I am still on medication, will this level be fine for me to get conceived easily or should I try pretty hard to become pregnant ?

Thanks for all your suggestions, so for my TSH level to go down from 3.2 to 1.0 should I increase my synthroid dosage ?

Your doctor should know this, but yes.  Dose needs to be upped to next dosage.  I always suggest the next dose up and go from there to the next dose up and then the next dose up and so forth, as not to over shoot the level that you want. If this happens its like starting all over again and will take more time to get where you want. Just take your time and be patient, you will get there.

Good Luck!

Your TSH should be close to 1.0 or a little under before trying to conceive.  The higher the TSH, the higher rate of miscarriage (or total lack of conception).  I'm no doctor, but in my opinion, after you've reached a TSH level of 1.0 (or a bit under) start taking prenatal vitamins and then try to conceive.  Best wishes.

I don't know too much about this subject having no children.  However, just like almost all health conditions, this is an individual issue and depends on your system. Below is some info for you.  Hope it helps.

Women with higher TSH levels have a greater than three-fold increase in the risk of very preterm delivery.
Pregnant women who test positive for antithyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) when they first start receiving prenatal care have a more than two-fold increased risk of very preterm delivery.
Women who are on thyroid hormone replacement should plan to increase their dosage by 30% to 60% during the first few weeks of pregnancy, and ultimately are likely to need to have their thyroid hormone dosage increased by as much as 50% during pregnancy.

Normal TSH Levels DURING PREGNANCY
First Trimester: 0.24 - 2.99
Second Trimester: .46-2.95
Third Trimester: .43 - 2.78

Any woman with a diagnosed thyroid condition should have her thyroid tested prior to becoming pregnant, and again within the first several weeks of early pregnancy. She should be tested frequently throughout the pregnancy, including several times in the first trimester, and throughout the pregnancy as often as clinical signs and symptoms might indicate, but at least once in each of the second and third trimesters

Discuss the issue with your doctor and Good Luck!
