how do i raise my tsh number?

Ever scince I have been diagnosed with graves disease I have had unmeasurable TSH numbers always comming back 0.001. My doctor wants to do RAI but I thought TSH numbers need to be elevated for this treatment to work. Is this true and if so how do we bring this number up?

My TSH was <0.001 when I had RAI four months ago.  My levels are now starting to get to normal and I should be hypo soon. I was never on anti-thyroid meds.

Before I had RAI...my tsh was always 0.05 and not once did it go up even when I was on antithyroid meds for 12 months.
All the while you have a thyroid and also Graves...your tsh wont budge much at all.
I was also severely HYPER with high FT3/FT4 levels when I had RAI done and was also on antithyroid meds until the fay before RAI where most people are HYPO (low FT3/FT4) before RAI.
RAI worked for me....it all really depends on the Endo and also your history.

The only time my TSH went up was 5 weeks after RAI when I went Hypo....and thats when thyroxin was started.

I hope that helps :)
