Thyroid disease is also a heredity disease, many have the disease without sympotoms until they get older (I did not have recognizable Symptoms until 58) Some have symptoms in childhood or are born with them. The fact is, unless the MD does tests, there is no way to tell, symptoms like High Blood pressure and high triglycerides and cholesterol are common without thyroid disease, but MD's don't look for the cause, they just medicate each symptom as a separate issue. So many symptoms are caused by Thyroid Disease, they tend to have tunnel vision, for instance Depression and Anxiety, you go to your MD, tell him/her you are depressed, what do they do? They write you a prescription for Anti Depressants, they don't think "OH this is a symptom of thyroid disease, maybe I should do thyroid labs" No they give you a prescription and send you home. Not until you have a whole bubdle of symptoms, do they start looking at the thyroid, then some just do a TSH, and you could be "In Range" but still be sicker than a dog, and they still send you home sick. Its juist that good thyroid MDs are hard to find. You more than likely have had Thyroid Disease for quite a while and just did not know it. Do you have the lab results? please post the requested labs. Then we can give you more exact info based on them. Thanks FTB4
