Where's that iodine / thyroid thread I saw not too long ago?  Also, anyone done the iodine staining test on yourself?  I was chatting with Stella (don't ya love her) and decided that I wanted to try out the staining test (paint abt 2 in spot somewhere - i did on my leg - using that liquid iodine you can buy for cuts and scrapes).  Wouldn't it be great if I was deficient somehow and it solved all my problems (well they wacky thyoid and breast ones anyway) *wink*.  I read somewhere (through Stella again) that iodine is being used in the treatment of fibrocystic breast disease (which I have).

HMMMMM ... just another thing to ponder.  I would love for it to be deficient so I could just take some and feel better everywhere.  Wonder what it does for EBV -- my luck, probably nothing.

Heh mommy.....Stella is having great results with Iodoral (sp?) and got her drs approval today on taking it.
Yes it sounds like you are deficient if it faded that quickly...wow! Did you read all the posts on the comp med about the iodine?
I will be next to do the patch test...lol

Well - interesting is this test.  Within 2 hours, the orange color was reduced to yellow and by this am, the spot I painted was barely visible.  Looked like a tinted portion of my skin.

Interesting indeed!  I bet my ENT would not give a **** though.  Is there an OTC iodide supplement in pill form that is safe for a hashi patient with normal labs??

That's where I saw it.  I bought the one that Platelet was referring to.  The spot I painted is going away.  Maybe I am iodine deficient after all.  Will see!

Heh mommy.....we have a long Iodine thread going over on the complimentary medicine community....check it out. It tells the proper kind to use (not the kind you are talking about! lol )  how to use it, and like to proper way to test.
A word of warning with hashi patients in die off mode though.
