Bruce you hit it spot on! I was minding my business and boom out of no where the shakes, rapid heart rate, increased b/p, and anxiety. I haven't felt that since before I had my surgery. I use to get it in my sleep really bad. I think I may of had sleep apnea because of my goiter. But you are right about the anxiety...I just want to make it stop. :(
Lol Bruce, it's not really funny, but you are exactly right about laying on the beach and having your body panic and not your mind. In fact, that gives me different ideas for my research and dissertation thank you. This kind of "anxiety" happens to me randomly. It's my body that does as Bruce says, shakes, pulse goes high and BP rises and I can't breathe.
Just try to keep tell them it is not that. Don't mention the anxiety at all. Keep us posted.
this disease causes anxiety. Its a different type of anxiety. Hard to explain unless you are one of us and can relate to it.
I get anxiety when i have to give a presentation or get agitated from my kids making a lot of noises. I get anxiety when my bills come in the mail. However this is different. This is physical anxiety that the disease causes. For example, I can be on the beach of hawaii, petting my cat while my wife feeds me grapes and not a worry in the world. But the disease makes me shake, anxious, BP goes up, and so does the pulse. Even when asleep this happens.
This was very bad until i started the thyroid medication. Also at certain times when I think i have taken too much or on too high of a dose, this can cause the anxiety as well.
So my point is - just hang tight. You are anxious not because of anxiety in the real sense, but because this dumb disease is causing this as one of your symptoms.
I usually don't mention anxiety. When I was hyperthyroid, they didn't hear me at all because all they could hear was "panic". I know the difference as you say. When I am feeling hyper, I experience everything you have said. The only thing that helps me is the beta blocker thank god, but I remember you said you can't take it because your heart rate is already really low. I hate when docs can't see past something. They miss real issues for years because of this. I really hope you get some answers! Hang in there.
