hypothyroid and 10h week pregnant

I'm a tensed to be mom, I am in the 10th week of pregnancy n I started to take 50mcg levothyroxine  for low thyroid at 9th week, is it late to start the meds and would it effect the baby's development. pls help me out .... i would be relieved to hear from someone who had no thyroid at all earlier and started taking meds at 10+ week of pregnancy and what was the result at end and their experience or any specialized person in the field....i have heard  and read negative things like it causes mental retardation,neurological impairment n lower IQ in babies during first trimester.I'm worried.... pls help

Have you talked with your doctor about your apprehension?  Maybe you could spend a little more time asking questions and getting answers that satisfy you.  It sounds like you are hoping to get a reply from Dr. Lupo.  He doesn't reply in this members support group.  If you want a medical opinion, repost this on Dr. Lupo's board.  I think it is titled something like hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer.  Also, since you are looking for feedback from women who began taking this med after conception, you might also post in a pregnancy/parenting group.  Good luck!
