hypothyroidism and muscle weakness

I have hypothyroidism and have been experiencing muscle weakness on a nightly basis. It seems to be worse with repetitive movements, and it's only located at my shoulders, neck, and trapezius (sp?) muscles. Sometimes I feel pressure and pain at my thyroid around the same time, and it's pretty much a 24-hour pattern, beginning in the early evening.

I've had an antibody test for myesthenia gravis which was negative, but I have an enlarged thymus.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am experiencing the same thing!  After a year of increasing meds and more tests, I am up to 75 mcg to be in the right TSH range, however, I am shaky!  I feel agitated, anxious, and my muscles are weak and jerky.  After telling my doc, he said to stop meds all together for a week.  I felt better, but the bloodwork came back saying I needed the 75 mcg, so he told me to start again.  Now after several weeks I am experiencing the same symptoms.  My pharmacy switched me from levothyroxine to levoxyl.  Could this also be a factor?

Such a relief to hear. Thank you for replying! I was just switched to generic Synthroid (Levo), and the weakness suddenly got worse again...guess it's worth the $$$ to stay on the real thing. Thanks again!
