hyroidectomy

I had a complete thyroidectomy a year and a half ago.  I was diagnosed with cancer and it was discovered AFTER the operation that it was benign.  I am taking levothyroxine .112 one day and .125 every other day.  Even though my TSH levels seem to be OK, I have gained 20 pounds!  I would like to lose weight and not continue to gain.  I have also been diagnosed with arthritis of the lower back and right knee.  I recently read on-line that there is a connection to hypothyroidism and arthritis.  Is this so?
Thank you.

Just had a total hyroidectomy 3 days ago. Dr. has me on 50 mg Synthroid and I'm jumping out of my skin here.  Can't sleep, heat intolerance, looking for things to do at 2:30 in the morning.  Just made a big pot of soup and about to get the sewing machine out and start mending stuff.  Feels like I'm hyper still!!!   Any suggestions till I can call him in the morning?  Diane

Maybe you TSH is still a little high.

Here is a link explaining hypothyroidism and the link to arthritis, among other things.
