well crude! I never thought about it being more of a problem with the cipro then the vicodin. I have ONLY 3 antibiotics I can take, cipro, bactrum and clyndamycian. I am allerigic to everything else!!! I also can NOT take morphine, demerol, darvaset, percaset, and codine so I would really hate to lose the vicodin too. ugh!
I have had the flu feeling from Macrobid!!!!! Felt like worst drunkin' hangover from ONE pill and yellow spots b4 my eyes and also pins and needles in extremities .. so it is on my allergy list.

Just a note if you don't like yogurt, you can buy acidophilus pills at any vitamin counter and take them instead of eating the yogurt. That is the good bacteria that is in yogurt.
Also, dr gave me a script for Lortab and of course got generic hydrocordone. This is something I have taken before, but it was a different generic brand than this one. This one just about killed me. Made me feel like I had the worst case of the flu ever. Took me three days to get over one dose. The main ingredients are the same, but sometime the vehicle they put them in is different and one maybe more tolerable than the other.
Hope you feel better soon.

Can't give any input either but wanted to tell you I hope you feel better soon.... and find answers to your questions. You guys have helped me SO much and I am totally pre-surgery still!

I'm sorry i csn't comment on your incision troubles- I just wanted to add my 2cents for the meds with your stomach. The cipro is kiiling the good bacteria in your tummy and will cause that ukky feeling, a cup of yogurt daily while on cipro will replace the majority of the flora.
Hang in there-
~sending a prayer your way~

I *think* the Vicodan is mixing with the Cipro and that is the reason .... ask about adding Carafate to the mix .. works wonders with some tough meds but must be spaced out accordingly .. btw, works great with reflux .. it is an ulcer healer like chalk but coats stomach and esophagus. That is a thought since you need both.
Now, don't be fooled as my bursting stitches (spitting that is) the 1st time were black and the 2nd time they were white and both were cloth not vinyl. The discoloration may be from them nearing the surface or from moving around under the surface OR from scar tissue breaking up and bleeding casually near the surface. The melanoma incision has that blackish/purple look as you describe and I think its from scar tissue breakinga away.
The codeine (even if synthetic) may be doing a # on your stomach ....... :::::e-hugs::::: touch place to be in .. BTDT :::::hugs again::::::.
