Thank you again,

My past is went to obgyn, doctor for regular check up in 2005 , he said he sent me results in mail about my thyroid test, and I need to see my regular doc about it.  I never recieved the letter. so in 2006  I went back for check up with obgyn doc and he said what are you doing about your thyroid?  I said what do you mean, what's wrong with my thyroid, he said
Have your regular doctor talk to you about it, get blood test again.  I did as he ask, went
to see my regular internal medicine doc, she said no big deal just take medicine it will all me ok.

So The first numbers i got was   THS  2.65     and T4 15.9

I didn't have any symtoms at this time, except yes I was tired, that was it. just didn't think any thing about it my mother, and 5 aunts all took meds for thyroid, so I thought I 'm no different , Just last year I started feeling weird, little shakes, nervous, (but something bad happen to one of my child) I thought maybe it was by nerves.

Then about 3 months when this begain i heard i need to take thyroid med, all by itself, because vitiams would keep it from doing its good job, and food also.  So I took it at 4:00am so it could do what it needs to do.    maybe that is why it is on my body so hard.

I am going to ask for anibody testing,  this is so good information.  I wrote this down so I will not forget.

/Thank you for taking your time to help me, I really appriciate it so very much.
I have been  uneducated about this, and I know that is wrong, I am trying now though.
thanks to people like you

I'm still not certain of your past thyroid history.

"I just was confussed why i would be on the medicine."

-Sounds like there needs to be improved communication between you and the doctor. A doctor that just says, 'here take these' is not finishing the office visit.

What were your original symptoms in 2006 and complete thyroid lab tests that lead to the Levothyroxine prescription? (please include the ranges the lab used, they differ).

If the doctor just says you have hypothyroidism, you need to find out why. Sometimes its not permanent, sometimes it is.

Did you ever get antibody testing (two of them for hypothyroid)? If the answer is no, you need to ask for these, to find out if you have Hoshimotos thyroiditis (an actual disease) caused from antibodies attacking the thyroid. If you have this, a gradual increase of meds is normal for life, many hear have this.

Thank you for explaining all this.  my t4 have always been little high from day one (which is about 4 years ago,   2006 (15.9)  2006 ( 13.8)    2007  (10.5)    2010  (12.9) didn't check since then until I made her because I knew it wasn't just the need for prozac.  my ths.... has always been around 2.65 until now.  She still says it's no big deal but I am going to new doctor in 5 weeks.  That is as soon as I could go.

I just was confussed why i would be on the medicine.  I'm  going to try to get some one to test me for t3 and free t4,
Do you have any other advise, before I go?

thank you so much

Lets start from the basics. Levothyroxin (a T4 replacement) is for hypo people that need to raise their T4 hormone. Thay may have been diagnosed as 'regular' hypothyroid, or have Hoshimotos hypothyroidism.

Or their thyroid may have been medically altered that changed their hyperthyroidism (Graves) to hypothyroid for 'easier' management by hypo thyroid replacement meds.

Think of the hypo meds like adjusting the gas pedal in your car to your desired speed - too little your slow (hypo), too much your fast (hyper).

So a diagnosed hypothyroid person can feel hyper from too much meds - sounds like you... .?

If your a diagnosed hypo and stop your meds, your thyroid hormone levels will drop and you will feel more and more hypo.

Your TSH is a little past the comfortable limits for most people into hyper territory. I say most because TSH is not a very good way to manage thyroid issues. Some people have a comfortable TSH that is beyond the suggested range. You need to ask the doctor for the actual hormone levels called "free T3 and freeT4" - that is what the meds actually change.

If you feel hyper, dropping the med dose should make you 'mellow' out some. It takes more than a few days of dropping T4 meds for most to notice.
