Should I get a 2nd opinion?

My new doctor is the only dr. in years to order a full scale of blood tests concerning my thyroid function and an ultrasound on my thyroid.  The tests revealed Hashimotos with high antibodies and the ultra sound revealed a 2.9 nodule, and an enlarged thyroid.  He has ordered a FNA on the nodule in 2 weeks.  He also upped my meds to 150 Synthroid and said NO more generic thyroid meds when he found out I was taking generic.  My doctor (who I think is a great doctor) is an internist not an endo.  Should I go ahead with the FNA or get a second opinion with an endo?

Also, I am experiencing a tingling sensation in my left foot that is driving me nuts.  My doctor sent me to a neurologist and I haven't really been given an explanation other than "it could be your thyroid".  Is this a thyroid symptom?  I'm starting to think I have some horrible disease.

Thank you for the helpful comments!  That makes me feel better about the tingling,  I really do like this new doctor, he listens to everything I say (rare these days) and spends lots of time with me on my visits.  I actually went to see him about a sinus infection, and he zero-ed in on my neck right away and starting asking questions and ordering tests.  I found all this out completely by accident because of his diligence.

You are in good hands for what you're saying. All nodules larger then 1 cm should be investigated. About your symptoms, yes it can be thyroid related.

I have had the 'tingling' and burning sensation underneath the foot quite a few times when I am heading Hyper. This sensation goes up into the bottom of the foot and comes and goes. Its basically in the 'arch' of the foot and always the same foot.
I was told that it is a thyroid problem and usually means the levels are unstable.
I havent had it for a few months now since my levels are starting to stabalise.
In regards to your Doctor, it seems he knows what he is doing when others dont.
My Endo was given the boot after the 2nd consultation and my PCP has treated me from day one after being diagnosed with Graves, Hyperthyroidism, Thyca.
I had RAI (June 2008) & keyhole TT (sept. 2008) and am doing really well with the help of my PCP.
Stick with your Doctor if you feel comfortable with him.

If you can afford a second opinion get one. It never hurts to get another set of eyes on the numbers and symptoms. I go to the doctor next week and will bring up some symptoms that haven't gone away. It's likely I'll get a second opinion if I'm told it's just stress again. =)
