join pain

Has anyone experienced joint pain relief from taking thyroid medication?  I had an active auto immune disease that is no longer active, but still have joint pain.  I am also recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and am scared to take the medication.  I tried it once and felt like my heart was racing, very thirst, and very uncomfortable.  It was a bad experience.  My doctor told me to half the dose, but I was to scared to try it again.

I had terrible joint and muscle pain....could hardly get out of bed in the morning.
I've been on Levothyroxine (generic thyroid med) since June and am much better and getting better every day. Also...if you are a man, you should get your testosterone levels checked AND don't let them tell you anything under 5-600 is normal range!

Keep pushing for the answer...it's out there!

Hypothyroidism can cause SEVERE joint aches. 80 % of people who have a diagnoses of "fibromialga" really have low thyroid levels. I strongly suggest that you have COMPLETE blood labs drawn. The obligatory tsh and total t4 is not suffient to reveal a problem. You MUST have the freet3 and freet4 and antibodies tested to know for sure. See this through! Quality of life depends on proper thyroid hormone levels in the body! (we're talking cellular level here!!!) If you've tried a  t4 only drug and had heart issues and just didn't feel right, then you may do better on a porcine dessicatted drug. Go with Nature-Throid or Compounded desiscated though. Armour Brand is not working as well (formula change). Good luck and God Bless!
